White settlers arrived in New Zealand in the seventeenth century, bringing with them their customs, their language, their food, their genetic heritage and their diseases.They settled among Maori natives who were already there.

Which of the two will take over? Pakehas or Maori?

Will the Maori culture be suppressed by the British?

Can we now say that the Maori indigenous people fit into the modern world of New Zealand?
